SMS Policy

How Nortthline uses text messaging, and how people consent to it.

What these messages are

Nortthline answers a contractor’s phone after hours. When a caller leaves their details, we send one text message to the business owner containing the caller’s name, callback number, the town they are in, the problem, and whether it was urgent. That message is the product.

Who receives them

Only the owner of a subscribing business, on the mobile number that owner gives us. We never text the members of the public who ring the business, and we never text anyone whose number was not supplied to us by the account holder themselves.

How consent is given

Consent is given by the business owner in writing when they sign up for Nortthline. During onboarding the owner supplies their own mobile number for the express purpose of receiving these alerts, and agrees to receive them. There is no other route onto this list: numbers are never purchased, scraped, or collected from any third party.

Message frequency

One message per missed call. For most shops that is a few messages a week, and more during a storm or a cold snap.

Opting out

Reply STOP to any message to stop immediately. Reply HELP for help, or email us at the address below. Opting out ends the alerts, and the service can be cancelled at any time.

Costs

Message and data rates may apply, depending on the recipient’s mobile plan. Nortthline does not charge per message.

Privacy

Mobile numbers given to us for alerts are used only to send those alerts. They are not sold, rented, or shared with third parties for marketing, and they are never shared with other customers. See our privacy policy for the rest.
